The Royal Commission for Al-Ula Launches a Department to Attract the Saudi and International Film Industry

The Royal Commission for Al-Ula Governorate announced the launch of the "Al-Ula Film" department, which will support and facilitate filming in Al-Ula Governorate, as part of its strategies to promote Al-Ula as a tourist destination and the largest living museum in the world.

The "Al-Ula Film" management gives the opportunity to discover picturesque filming sites for filmmakers amid the nature of Al-Ula and its historical monuments. The department also provides support to complete the required approvals, facilitate the necessary procedures and permits, and provide the necessary logistical support.

Al-Ula Governorate is home to civilizations and human and natural history dating back more than 200,000 years, which makes it a unique destination for all producers and filmmakers, and the cultural heritage it represents with historical and spatial attraction, and the unique natural and cultural environment it possesses.

The new administration will focus on supporting and stimulating local productions by working with several government agencies interested in filming and producing films in Al-Ula, as this is part of the authority’s endeavor to contribute to the realization of Saudi Vision 2030 by supporting national talents in the film industry, and contributing to improving its environment. And raising its standards towards more advanced levels.

Many international producers have expressed their interest in discovering the province of Al-Ula as a destination for filming their films, and a film produced by "Hollywood" will be announced soon, in addition to filming two Saudi films soon in Al-Ula, namely "Bayn Al-Rimal" and "Noura", directed and produced by Saudi.

It is noteworthy that the development of Al-Ula as a destination for filming, contributes to achieving the comprehensive strategic objectives of the Royal Commission for Al-Ula Governorate in diversifying the economy, which will positively affect the definition of Al-Ula as a global tourist and cultural destination, and will have an economic impact for the people and residents of AlUla in the services sector.

The launch of the "Al-Ula Film" department comes within the efforts of the Royal Commission for Al-Ula to develop the governorate into a global destination with new opportunities and economic possibilities. The development projects that the authority is working on are guided by the 12 strategic principles derived from the commission’s charter and its framework plan, and aims to ensure sustainable development and support the cultural statement of Al-Ula.
