"Historic Diriyah" celebrates the World Heritage Day

Today, Sunday, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia celebrates the World Heritage Day, which falls on April 18 of each year.

The Historic Diriyah is the largest heritage and cultural project in the world launched by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and whose goals were formulated by Vision 2030.

The Diriyah Gate Development Authority is racing against time to complete various projects to develop and rehabilitate heritage sites in Diriyah, which sponsored its inauguration ceremony and laid the foundation stone for it by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in November of 2019, in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Diriyah Gate Development Authority.

The Diriyah Gate development project is the largest heritage and cultural project in the world that aims to develop the historical area with its world heritage sites, and return it to its ancient past in the eighteenth century, to become a local, regional and international tourist destination.

Among the most important world heritage sites known in the historical Diriyah, the historic Al-Turaif district, which is included in the list of the World Heritage Sites of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Salwa Palace, and other historical landmarks, palaces and mosques, where the implementation of the first phase of the public project has begun. The past, through the implementation of Al-Bujairi development work, according to the most prominent and latest urban and environmental standards in rehabilitating historical and heritage sites in the world, and establishing an exceptional lifestyle for tourists, guests and visitors from inside and outside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

It is expected that the region will attract more than 25 million visitors and tourists annually from inside and outside the Kingdom, in light of the entertainment projects and various events that are planned, the museums, artistic and cultural facilities, and the attraction of artistic and cultural events from different parts of the world, supported by an architectural character. Distinctive, especially the well-known Najdi architecture in Ad Diriyah, which dates back more than 300 years.

The projects that are being implemented will transform the "historic Diriyah" into an area for exploration, shopping, and taste of the most delicious international foods, a place to live, live and a high-end life, especially as a variety of tourist and entertainment destinations are being established by adding distinctive heritage hotels and a variety of museums, international shopping centers, and international restaurants. With tastes and flavors belonging to countries and peoples from different countries and cultures. The project also includes a number of outdoor courtyards with distinctive designs and stunning views, and a 3-km walkway overlooking the historic Wadi Hanifa, but the area will be the largest and most important open cultural and heritage area with natural and historical views.
