A spokesman for the Chinese government of Xinjiang said on Monday that the United States, Britain, the European Union and Canada are engaging in political fraud to destabilize China.

Zhou Jiechiang made the statement during a press conference in which he rejected the allegations of genocide in the western region of the country and the sanctions announced by the governments of Western countries regarding human rights violations in Xinjiang.

On Saturday, China announced the imposition of sanctions against individuals and entities in the United States and Canada, in response to the sanctions imposed on citizens and groups from China because of Beijing's treatment of the Uyghur Muslim minority in Xinjiang.
