Mike Pence, former US Vice President Donald Trump, criticized the 2020 elections, which Joe Biden won, saying that the elections were marred by major irregularities.

Pence, who was presiding over a joint session of Congress when a mob stormed the Capitol, said there were "major irregularities in the voting process, and there have also been cases in which officials annulled the state election law."

In an opinion piece, Pence argued that the measures contained in the Voting Rights Act would "crush the First Amendment of the US Constitution, further erode confidence in our elections and weaken the votes of eligible voters."

He added, "While lawmakers in many states began working on election reform to restore public confidence in state elections, unfortunately, Democrats in Congress chose to put aside those concerns and correct reforms and push for a brazen attempt to nationalize the elections in blatant disregard for the United States Constitution."
