The inauguration of the Arab Observatory for Human Rights on February 22

Beth: The Arab Parliament, headed by Adel bin Abdulrahman Al-Asoumi, will hold its third session of the first session of the third legislative term on Monday, February 22, 2021 AD, in presence in Cairo at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States.

This session will witness the launch of the Arab Observatory for Human Rights.

The Arab Observatory for Human Rights aims to monitor and document the human rights situation in the Arab countries, and its position on the ratification of international and Arab conventions on human rights issues, as well as redrawing and crystallizing the correct and sound mental image of Arab countries abroad, especially by responding to allegations The politicized and erroneous reports issued by some unrelated bodies regarding the human rights situation in some Arab countries, and refuting the false allegations and accusations contained in these reports. The Observatory will also study the international reports issued by the United Nations and its agencies and bodies on the human rights situation in Arab countries and suggest appropriate policies to deal with them.

The President of the Arab Parliament, Adel Al-Asoumi said that the observatory will launch the "Arab Human Rights Index" as a mechanism that allows Arab countries to evaluate their progress in the implementation of human rights and their compliance with international and Arab human rights treaties and conventions.

In the other half, the third session will focus on discussing developments and developments in the current Arab situation, strengthening the role of the Arab Parliament in supporting and supporting Arab causes and activating the role of Arab diplomacy in defending the interests of Arab peoples.

Before the plenary session, the four permanent committees of the Arab Parliament will hold their meetings on 19-20 February 2021 AD.

The Foreign, Political and National Security Affairs Committee will discuss developments in the political situation and developments in the Arab world, a draft guiding law to protect and enhance cybersecurity in the Arab countries, as well as strengthen Arab parliamentary relations at the regional and international levels, and hold joint meetings with the corresponding committees in Arab parliaments.

The Economic and Financial Affairs Committee will also discuss a parliamentary vision proposal regarding facing the economic repercussions of confronting Corona, as well as discussing the development of small, medium and micro enterprises in the Arab countries.

While the Social, Educational, Cultural Affairs, Women and Youth Committee will discuss how to enhance the teaching of the Arabic language in the Arab least developed countries and combat illiteracy in the Arab world, the committee will also be discussing the document for developing education in the Arab world.

 The Legislative Affairs and Human Rights Committee will discuss a pilot draft law to regulate the conditions of informal workers and protect their rights in the Arab world.

After the committees' meetings are completed, the Arab Parliament Office will hold a meeting to approve the reports submitted by the committees and approve the agenda of the plenary session.
