British Prime Minister Boris Johnson considered that the impeachment of former US President Donald Trump, which ended with his acquittal of the charges against him, indicates the entrenchment of American democracy.

"I think the trial in America clearly suggests that after all this fuss, American democracy remains strong and the American constitution remains strong and stable," Johnson told CBS television on Sunday.

While US President Joe Biden considered that democracy in America is fragile.

In a statement released by the White House on Saturday evening, Biden said 57 members of the Senate, including 7 Republicans, voted to indict Trump on charges of "inciting a deadly revolt against our democracy."

He added that even those who opposed the conviction, such as Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, believe that Trump is, in practice and morally, responsible for fomenting the violence that erupted in the Congress building.

"This sad chapter in our history reminds us that democracy is fragile," Biden said.
