Prince Mohammed bin Salman releases "Coral Bloom" / video and photos of the project

His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Red Sea Development Company, launched the “Coral Bloom” design vision for the main island of the Red Sea project.

The Red Sea Development Company, the developer of one of the most ambitious renewable tourism projects in the world, unveiled designs designed by the British company, “Foster and Partners”, to blend in with the pristine natural environment of the main island.

The CEO of the Red Sea Development Company, John Pagano, said: “We expect that visitors will be dazzled when they first arrive at the Red Sea project, as they will be awaiting an extremely immersive luxury experience. The vision is a tangible reality. ”

He added, “A sinister island is the main gateway to the Red Sea project, so it is very important to set exceptional standards for innovative engineering and sustainable design. Not only in our destination, but also at the global level, and achieving this is not limited to protecting the environment, but also to adopting a renewed approach to development processes.

The design vision for a sinister island revolves around considerations of biological diversity, as mangroves and other habitats will be preserved as natural lines of defense against erosion and erosion, and in addition to this, new habitats will be developed through landscaped gardens to improve the natural condition of the island.

The design vision also covers the eleven resorts and hotels slated for construction on the island, as they are designed to keep pace with the aspirations of travelers after the “Covid-19” pandemic, including providing wider spaces; And more integration into the natural landscape, to combine these hotels with the surrounding sand dunes, which enhances the natural beauty of the island.

The design also includes the construction of new beaches on the dolphin-like island, in addition to a new lake as well. These improvements contribute to raising the level of the island’s land, thus providing a barrier to prevent the danger of sea level rise.

These changes will preserve or improve the features of the island without harming the habitats and natural beaches.

It is planned that Sinister Island will include 11 resorts and hotels operated by a number of the most famous global hospitality brands, and the natural landscape will be used to give a dramatic effect to these facilities, especially since all the hotels and villas on the island are made up of one-story integrated with the sand dunes, which ensures the preservation of the splendor The surrounding landscapes without any hindrance to obscure their vision, and creates a sense of mystery among the guests as the features of the island unfold in front of them little by little, as the designs of resorts and hotels also take into account the requirements of travelers; It does not include any interior corridors, for example, in light of the growing demand for spacious and isolated spaces after the outbreak of the “Covid-19” pandemic.

The resorts will be constructed using light construction materials with low thermal mass and manufactured off-site, achieving higher energy efficiency and lower environmental impact.

For his part, Gerard Evenden, studio manager at Foster & Partners, said: “We were inspired by our vision of an evil island from its natural state. The design of the hotels is like driftwood washed up by the waves to the beaches to settle between the sand dunes.

The materials we use and their low environmental impact protect the island’s pristine environment, while the additions help enhance its existing natural features - hence the name “Coral Bloom” (meaning “coral blossoming”) ”.

The Red Sea Development Company is committed to achieving 30% environmental conservation by 2040, and the company is developing the largest battery storage system in the world, allowing the entire site to operate with renewable energy 24 hours a day, and this includes establishing central district cooling plants to ensure guest comfort throughout Over the destination.

In line with this commitment, the master plan of the Red Sea project is based on an expanded marine surveying planning and guarantees that 75% of the destination islands are not affected, and Shura is one of only 22 islands carefully selected for development.

It is noteworthy that the Red Sea project has reached important milestones in the development work, and work is underway to receive guests by the end of 2022 with the opening of the international airport and the first four hotels, and the remaining 12 hotels scheduled to be built within the first phase will be opened in 2023.

Upon completion in 2030, the Red Sea project will consist of 50 resorts and hotels providing up to 8,000 hotel rooms and about 1,300 residential properties distributed over 22 islands and six indoor sites. The destination will also include luxurious marinas, golf courses, and many leisure and recreation facilities.

The Red Sea Development Company is a closed joint stock company wholly owned by the Public Investment Fund in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and its board of directors is chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince.

The company was established to lead the development of the “Red Sea Project”, which is a luxurious and renewable tourist destination that will create new standards for sustainable development and place the Kingdom in a prominent position on the global tourism map.

The project will be developed on an area of 28,000 square kilometers of pristine land on the western coast of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and includes an archipelago containing more than “90” virgin islands. The destination also includes stunning mountains, dormant volcanoes, deserts, and cultural and heritage attractions.

It also includes hotels, residential units, and commercial and entertainment facilities. In addition to the infrastructure that relies on renewable energy, water conservation and reuse.

Development work is underway for the first phase, which includes the completion of the necessary infrastructure, which will be completed by the end of 2023.

The project has already made important strides, as more than 500 contracts have been signed so far, amounting to 15 billion riyals (4 billion dollars).

The Red Sea Project nursery is now operating at full capacity, with an area of 100 hectares, and will provide more than 15 million seedlings to the destination.

The project currently employs more than 5,000 workers, and 70 km of the road network has been constructed at the destination out of 80 km. The workers ’residential village, which will accommodate ten thousand workers, will be inaugurated by the end of the first quarter of this year, and work is underway to develop the employees’ city as planned, which will expand. About 14,000 employees will manage the destination in the future.
