Trump orders the US Central Command to initiate a military turnaround against Iran
The American Wall Street Journal reported that US President Donald Trump had ordered the US Central Command to initiate a military turnaround against Iran.
US officials said, according to the newspaper, that Trump had ordered the expansion of the main US military command in the Middle East to include Israel, in reorganizing the US defense against Iran.
According to the Wall Street Journal, this step means that the US Central Command will supervise the US military policy that includes both Israel and the Arab countries, in a departure from the decades of the US military command structure that was established due to the dispute between Israel and some Arab allies of the Pentagon.
It is also the latest in a series of moves by the Trump administration to shape the US national security agenda.
The newspaper reported that Trump made the change recently, but it has not been announced yet.
The American newspaper pointed out that the American military responsibility for Israel has always been allocated to its European leadership, and this arrangement enabled the American generals in the Middle East to interact with the Arab countries without having any ties to Israel.
