US lawmakers vote to besiege Trump and the Republican leader confirms that the process will not be completed before the inauguration
The US House of Representatives voted, Wednesday evening, in favor of passing legislation that would impeach the President of the United States, Donald Trump, for “inciting rebellion in congressional events.”
232 lawmakers in the House of Representatives, including 10 Republicans and 222 Democrats, supported Trump’s impeachment legislation, compared to 197 lawmakers who rejected it.
Although it may be too late to impeach President Trump before his term ends, the Democrats are still eager to pursue him, in order to deny him the benefits accorded to former presidents and prohibit him from holding any official office in the future.
And fear Democrats Trump’s declaration of war on Iran.
Wednesday’s House vote in favor of impeachment paves the way for President Trump’s trial in the Senate.
A US official said the Senate would not hold an emergency session this week.
The leader of the Republicans in the US Senate, Mitch McConnell, confirmed that the impeachment process of the current US President, Donald Trump, will not be completed before the inauguration of his successor, Joe Biden.
And President Trump announced Wednesday night that he was "shocked and saddened" by the storming of Congress, pledging that all those involved in it would be held accountable, and said he had directed the use of all resources to impose order during the transfer of power.
