The Gulf Summit ... Its Implications and Its Holding in Saudi Arabia
The capital, Riyadh, has hosted many summits of leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council over the past decades, and the city of Riyadh was an important turning point in many Gulf decisions and transformations that bore fruit and embodied in the interest of the peoples of the region.
The last hosting of Riyadh was on Tuesday 13 Rabi` al-Akhir 1441 AH corresponding to December 10, 2019 AD when it hosted the meetings of the Supreme Council of the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council states in its fortieth session at the kind invitation of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
Riyadh had previously been honored to host the session’s work eight more times, starting with the second session, as it was full of many developments, initiatives and decisions that have come to serve the Gulf citizen first and raise his status as the first component of the GCC countries.
Today, their Majesties and Highnesses, the leaders of the GCC states, affirm their eagerness to preserve the strength, cohesion and resilience of the Cooperation Council, and the unity of the ranks among its members, due to the special relations and common features that are based on the Islamic faith and Arab culture, the ancient history, a common destiny and the unity of purpose that unites and connects its members.
The Gulf Cooperation Council has made important achievements during its path, which contributed to making this region an oasis of stability, security, economic prosperity and social peace, and many achievements have been made towards achieving full Gulf citizenship, but the emerging challenges that we face today require achieving more to enhance the march of joint Gulf action. And to complete the steps, programs and projects of economic, social, political, security and military integration.
During the past decades, all the states of the Council have presented ambitious visions for the march of the Council, through which they launched important complementary projects in all fields aimed at investing the human and economic wealth of the GCC countries for the benefit of the citizen in the GCC countries.
The vision of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, laid the foundations for completing the system of integration between the GCC countries in all fields.
