The United States accuses Iran of waging a campaign of incitement to kill US officials
Today, the United States of America accused Iranian cyber actors of being responsible for death threats targeting American election officials in mid-December 2020.
The FBI and the Cyber Security and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) confirmed, in a joint press release, that they possess highly reliable information indicating that Iranian cyber actors are responsible for creating a website called "People's Enemies", which contained death threats. Targeting US election officials in mid-December 2020.
The statement stated that the website (the enemies of the people) published a "targeting list" that included the names, addresses and photos of about 10 American officials, indicating that the establishment of the "enemies of the people" website after the elections confirms the Iranian intention to continue to create divisions and distrust in the United States and undermine the public's confidence in The American Electoral Process.
The statement indicated that the Bureau of Investigation and the Agency had previously warned that Iranian cyber actors were likely bent on influencing and interfering in the 2020 United States elections.
The statement reaffirmed that the FBI will continue investigating credible threats against US election officials through any media, including websites and telephone or electronic communications.
