1.3 million seats on the Haramain Express train during the month of Ramadan
The Al Haramain Express 2700 train operates 1.3 million seats to travel between Mecca and Medina during the holy month of Ramadan.
The company "SAR", the Saudi Railways Company, owned by the Public Investment Fund, confirmed that it has prepared a precise plan in coordination with the operator company, to keep up with the great demand for the trips of the Haramain Express train during the Ramadan season.
"SAR" confirmed that the operational capacity of the train, which has a speed of 300 km/h, will be raised, covering the distance of 449 km between the two holy cities in two hours and twenty minutes.
The Haramain Express is one of the 10 fastest electric trains in the world, using advanced signaling and communication systems, and is an essential component in the development plan and expansion program of the Saudi Railway network.
The train was inaugurated in 2018, between Mecca, Jeddah and Medina with a double railway line, with a distance of 453 km.
The express train has five stations, 3 of which are terminals, namely Makkah Al Mukarramah station located in Al Rusaifa district, Al Madinah Al Munawwarah station, and King Abdulaziz Airport station in Jeddah, in addition to two intermediate stations, the main Jeddah station located in Sulaimaniyah district and King Abdullah Economic City station.
The Al-Haramain Express train station at King Abdulaziz Airport is the largest train station connected to airports in the world, through its presence on an area exceeding 105 thousand square meters, extending over several floors, and connected to six train platforms, which contributes to the ease of movement from and to the station, whether it is towards Mecca or Medina.
This terminal contributes to reducing the congestion received by the roads leading to King Abdulaziz Airport by transporting passengers arriving there directly to the rest of the terminals without the need for them to leave the airport and use other means of transport.
The Haramain Express train is operated with 35 electric trains, the capacity of each train is 417 passengers through 13 cars divided into 5 business class cabins, in addition to a cafeteria and 8 economy class cabins, for a total of 113 business class seats, while the number of Economy Class seats is 304 seats.
