Riyadh-Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of energy, and Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and industry Ken Saito held the second meeting of the Saudi-Japanese ministerial dialogue on energy in Riyadh on Sunday.
This meeting follows the establishment of the manar initiative for cooperation in the field of clean energy between the Kingdom and Japan, during the meeting of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and prime minister, with kishido Fumio, prime minister of Japan, on July 16, in Jeddah.
The two ministers reviewed the progress achieved in the manar initiative, which includes cooperation in a number of key areas, including: hydrogen and ammonia, synthetic fuels, the circular economy of carbon and carbon recycling, vital minerals needed to support the energy sector, supply chains and enhance their flexibility and ability to recover, the development of sustainable materials, and the exchange of experiences, knowledge and research results.
They stressed that the dialogue is necessary to support the stability of global oil markets, and achieve the sustainability and security of global energy supplies, through enhancing dialogue between producers and consumers, pointing out that the kingdom is the largest source of oil supplies to Japan, and it is a reliable partner for Japan in this aspect.
The two ministers also agreed to continue strengthening bilateral relations, advancing global efforts aimed at reaching zero neutrality, and enhancing cooperation within the framework of the manar initiative, where both sides agree on the importance of countries adopting different paths, in line with the national conditions of each country, to achieve zero neutrality, while enhancing energy security and supporting economic growth at the same time.
