The kingdom of Saudi Arabia unveiled the agenda and the list of speakers at the third edition of the Saudi Green Initiative Forum, which is being held under the slogan "from ambition to Action" for the second year in a row, on December 4, 2023, in conjunction with the twenty-eighth session of the United Nations conference on climate change (cop28) on the grounds of Expo City Dubai.
The forum brings together a group of influential figures, climate experts, senior government officials and CEOs to exchange ideas and visions and discuss the best available ways to address climate challenges.
The list of speakers at the forum includes William Thomas winters, CEO of Standard Chartered Bank, Dr. Angela Wilkinson, secretary general and CEO of the World Energy Council, Olivier Le Bosch, CEO of Schlumberger, Francois jacaud, CEO of airliquid, and a number of ministers.
The forum's agenda focuses on a number of key topics, including: innovation and application of Clean Energy Solutions, the Red Sea ecosystem, financing climate action activities, and protecting land and sea areas in the kingdom. The forum is also an ideal opportunity for Climate Action stakeholders to hold fruitful dialogues, exchange ideas and visions, highlight innovative methodologies in addressing environmental challenges and support climate action efforts around the world.
The forum will witness the organization of a series of discussion sessions covering four main themes: : These sessions will address a range of pressing issues including Clean Energy Solutions, combating desertification, Innovative Climate Technologies, protecting the Red Sea, sustainable urban planning, carbon capture, use and storage technologies, hydrogen technologies, investments in promoting environmental, social and corporate governance practices, and ongoing reforms in the global financial system. in the year of the global assessment of progress made in achieving the goals of the Paris climate agreement, the Saudi Green Initiative forum will provide 2023 is an important platform that contributes to accelerating global efforts to address climate challenges.
In addition to the forum, the "Saudi Green initiative exhibition", which opens its doors throughout the period of the cop28 conference, runs from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., except on December 4, dedicated to the forum to highlight the various initiatives and projects currently underway in the kingdom with the aim of building a more sustainable future for all, in a step reflecting the kingdom's firm commitment to strengthening climate action efforts.
This year, the Saudi Green initiative is organizing a series of interactive dialogues aimed at enabling more audiences to learn about the latest trends in climate action. Scheduled to be held daily at the initiative's exhibition stand, these dialogues shed light on future trends in the field of sustainability in line with the cop28 agenda, and cover a variety of issues including new technologies that contribute to enhancing energy efficiency.
