Riyadh.. The launch of the festival "spray murals art 2023" with the participation of Saudi and international artists

The Saudi Visual Arts Authority launched a festival, "spray the art of murals 2023" in one of the old buildings in Al-mugharazat neighborhood in Riyadh, with the aim of celebrating the history and future of the art of murals by bringing Mural Arts from inside the building to its walls, by giving a character that transfers it from the past to the present, embodying the cultural and social scene.

The festival, under the supervision of two of the world's leading curators, Saudi graphic designer Basma flamban and British artist Cedar Lewison, runs until December 6, and includes more than 50 participants, including an artist, a speaker, and an expert in a number of mural-related arts, to create an interactive space and achieve an integrated experience, and find common artworks among local, regional and international artists.

It includes dialogue meetings and technical lectures to identify the source of mural art, discuss the role of public places and explore the future of mural art, in addition to a number of training workshops on mural art.

The festival offers a busy program for visitors, such as traditional hip-hop shows, Afro fusion, exceptional performances by the sand lifers ski team, in addition to learning lessons and ski competitions, a music program, it also provides a number of local fashion stores, food carts in the open area of the building, in addition to a special section for children and creative activities in an integrated artistic environment, allowing children to draw, graffiti and discover their talents using chalk, while the festival shows three films: Style Wars 1981 by Tony silver, two films by Fayza Amba Sun 2022, and Joey's movie 2021 .

It is worth mentioning that the Visual Arts Authority, in conjunction with the festival, organizes a number of lectures and workshops in cooperation with "Art Jameel" in Jeddah, while it worked to create permanent works of art as an extension of the "spray murals art" festival in various regions of the kingdom in order to provide places to reflect on the art of murals.

Through this festival, the authority aims to focus on the latest forms of mural art in the kingdom, enhance its creative presence, and provide a platform to showcase the artists ' products, as it reflects the keenness of the Ministry of culture to promote international cultural exchange as one of its strategic goals under the umbrella of Saudi Vision 2030.
