It is strange that many in Tbilisi do not know the Georgia History Monument, also known as the Georgia Historical Monument, even if they heard about it through the photos published by photographers in Tbilisi. There is a lot of information available about the many things to do in Tbilisi but not much about this impressive monument.

The monument was called "The Chronicle of Georgia," it looked a bit like Stonehenge in England, and getting there was more difficult than expected. There were no minibuses to go to, and some taxi drivers had no idea what we were asking. With the help of my colleague Musa from Azerbaijan, who tried to explain to them in Russian where we wanted to go, we finally agreed with the taxi driver and we had an opportunity where we would see these "gigantic rocks on a hill in Tbilisi".

It is a monument located near the Tbilisi Sea, where the monument of Georgia history consists of giant columns. The upper parts are decorated with scenes from Georgia's history, especially with the kings and queens who ruled the country. The lower parts of the monument depict the life of Jesus. There are 16 columns 30-35 meters high, and the monument was created by the Georgian sculptor Zurab Tseritelli. Construction began in 1985 but is still partially unfinished.

In front of the monument there is a cross that represents the cross of Saint Nino, the woman who brought Christianity to Georgia according to historical sources, and behind the rock columns there is a small church and when you wander around, you will enjoy an amazing panoramic view of the Tbilisi Sea and the outskirts of the city with a communist appearance.

The monument of The Chronicle of Georgia is impressive, not only for its sheer size and surrounding views but also for the decorative scenes on the massive columns. The place has a very special character, and it is definitely a hidden gem in Tbilisi that you should not miss when you visit Tbilisi.
