Saudi Arabia enters the Guinness Book of records with the largest sustainable farm in the world"
The kingdom of Saudi Arabia has set a new record in the field of agriculture, by entering one of the demonstration farms belonging to the research unit of renewable water agriculture in Wadi bin hashbel in Asir region; Guinness World Records list; as the largest farm in the world in terms of area.
The minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Eng.Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al-Fadhli, received the registration certificate in the International Encyclopedia, during the ceremony held by the rural Saudi program on this occasion, at its headquarters in Riyadh on Thursday, in the presence of Deputy Minister Eng. Mansour bin Hilal Al-Mushaiti, secretary general of the program "rural Saudi" Ghassan Bakri, in addition to a number of leaders and employees of the ministry.
The total area of the farm is (3204182) square meters, and it is divided into two parts, each of which has a concrete tank with a capacity of (500) cubic meters, in addition to an automatic irrigation network for all plantings in the two fields, the farm also contains (5) air-conditioned sheltered houses, along with a number of buildings.
The farm relies on treated water to irrigate crops, and the irrigation process is carried out in several stages, by experts and specialists in all specialties, such as "irrigation, fertilization, prevention, equipment"; to supervise and monitor all agricultural operations on the farm, through (50) fields of fruit trees, in addition to (20) other fields that will be reclaimed and planted in the future.
The farm contains a hub for the cultivation and production of alfalfa, along with the cultivation of various types of crops. Among them are fruits, most notably lemons, oranges, tangerines, pomegranates, grapes, figs, almonds, and olives, in addition to experimental fields containing many diverse agricultural varieties.
