Crown Prince announces the launch of the general plan of the new Abha International Airport

Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin crown prince and prime minister announced the launch of the general plan for the new Abha International Airport.
The new Abha airport will be built with an architectural identity consistent with the heritage of the Asir region; to become a prominent landmark in the Kingdom, and its terminal area will reach 65 thousand square meters compared to about 10 thousand five hundred square meters for the current airport, in addition to the construction of passenger bridges, the creation of new platforms and self-services to finish and facilitate travel procedures, and the construction of parking lots with a high capacity, and it is planned to complete the first phase by 2028.
The airport will be able to accommodate more than 13 million passengers per year compared to the current capacity of 1.5 million passengers, an increase of ten times the current capacity, in addition to operating more than 90 thousand flights per year compared to 30 thousand flights currently, the number of gates at the new airport will become 20 gates, the airport will have 41 check-in platforms, and the construction of 7 new self-service platforms.
