The Saudi Foreign Minister mentions at the summit of the group of "77+China" the size of the huge Saudi assistance to 176 countries

On behalf of the custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, headed the kingdom's delegation participating in the group of 77+China summit in Havana, the capital of the Republic of Cuba.His Highness delivered a speech in which he affirmed the kingdom's belief in working with a joint integrative approach to reach development, prosperity and stability.

The foreign minister explained that the humanitarian assistance provided by the King Salman Center for relief and humanitarian works, since its establishment in 2015, amounted to more than 6 billion dollars of humanitarian assistance, for the benefit of 91 countries, and the Saudi fund for development contributed more than 18 billion dollars to finance more than 700 development projects in 85 countries, targeting sectors such as social infrastructure, transport and agriculture.

He stressed the importance of investing in clean energy technology, which will facilitate a fair and comprehensive transition to clean energy, as the kingdom operates within the framework of a circular carbon economy that contributes to reducing carbon emissions.

He stressed the importance of strengthening international cooperation, which is a key enabler to achieve global climate goals, especially in the field of innovation, research and development, to promote clean energy technologies and achieve the ambitions of net zero emissions, pointing out that the kingdom views sustainability as a driving force for growth and progress, and strives to integrate economic, social and environmental aspects in development initiatives.

His Highness said:"the kingdom participates in the challenges facing the world in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, including environmental challenges, and the kingdom is working in this direction through several initiatives, including the Middle East Green initiative and the Saudi Green initiative, which contribute to achieving the global targets to combat climate change, as well as the kingdom's announcement of the establishment of a global water organization aimed at developing and integrating the efforts of countries and organizations to ensure the sustainability of water resources, to enhance access opportunities for all to address water challenges holistically.

He added:"the kingdom is exerting all efforts within the framework of the United Nations Convention to combat desertification, and is working within Vision 2030 to protect land and Natural Resources, and avoid the causes of land degradation and desertification, and the kingdom is looking forward to hosting member states at the conference of the states parties to the United Nations Convention to combat desertification in Riyadh next year".

The Saudi delegation participating in the summit included the Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Wasel, the ambassador of the custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the Republic of Cuba, Faisal Al-Harbi, and the director general of the Office of His Highness The Foreign Minister, Abdulrahman Al-Dawood.
