Saudi Arabia hosts the world championship of Electric Boat Racing

The Saudi Ministry of Sports announced that the kingdom will host the inaugural season of the UIM Electric Boat Racing World Championship, at the beginning of 2024, for two days at the waterfront of the bride of the Red Sea in Jeddah.
This championship is the first and only accredited international powerboat racing event.

Prince Sultan bin Fahd bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, President of the Saudi Federation for marine sports and diving, said on this occasion: "this partnership with E1 Series will help us accelerate the growth of marine sports in the kingdom, as this race, which will see the participation of the best racers in the world, is an ideal incentive to participate in marine sports, thanks to the sustainable technologies that E1 will develop.
For his part, Co-Founder, Chairman of the Board of Directors of E1 Alejandro Agag said that after experiencing the launch of two electric racing championships, this first-of-its-kind race has become of great importance, and the need to choose an influential location, showing this unique marine sport in its best suit, pointing out that Jeddah deserved to be chosen to host the first race in the championship, with the continuous support of the Ministry of sports and the Saudi Federation for marine sports and diving.
The tournament contains training sessions, qualifying races, and knockout competitions, where contestants will compete in a number of qualifiers in order to determine the qualifiers to the next stage, which is followed by the final through which the champion will be determined.
The Championship will land in Rotterdam, before heading to Jeddah for the opening round of the season, to attend the world Port Days event, which will run from 1 to 3 September 2023, and will witness the participation of many boats.
The teams will receive racebird-type boats, and each team will have to send two racers, of different sexes, to alternate driving duties for the duration of the race on the weekend.
