RIYADH - The official spokesman for the coalition forces "Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen," Brigadier General Turki Al-Maliki, stated that the leadership of the joint forces of the coalition will release (163) one hundred and sixty-three Houthi prisoners who participated in the hostilities against the kingdom's lands, as a humanitarian initiative as an extension of the humanitarian initiatives And in support of all efforts and endeavors to end the Yemeni crisis and bring peace, and the efforts of the United Nations to consolidate the current truce and create an atmosphere for dialogue between the Yemeni parties, as well as to facilitate the termination of the file of prisoners, detainees and martyrs in line with Islamic values, humanitarian principles and authentic Arab traditions and the provisions of international humanitarian law represented in texts The provisions of the Third Geneva Convention, the implementation of which has been suspended since 2018, according to the Stockholm Agreement.
Brigadier Al-Maliki added that the leadership of the joint forces of the coalition has begun to finalize the procedures for releasing the 163 prisoners, in coordination with the International Committee of the Red Cross, to be transferred to the capital of the Republic of Yemen (Sana'a).
Brigadier General Al-Maliki concluded his statement by emphasizing that the file of ending the exchange of prisoners and martyrs is of interest to the political and military leadership, which always emphasizes dealing with this file from purely humanitarian grounds, away from calculations or political and military gains.
