The Saudi Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources issued the bulletin on industrial licenses for the first quarter of 2022 AD.
The bulletin issued by the National Center for Industrial and Mining Information of the Ministry indicated that the number of producing factories and under construction in the Kingdom until the end of the first quarter of 2022 AD amounted to 10,489 factories, with a capital estimated at 1.345 trillion riyals, led by factories working in the manufacture of non-ferrous metal products, then factories for non-metallic minerals products Rubber and plastics, and fabricated metal products factories.
It revealed that the national factories top the productive and under-construction factories by type of investment by 85%, followed by foreign factories with 8%, then joint-investment factories by 7%, while the Riyadh region occupied the largest proportion of the total number of producing and under construction factories with about 5,173 factories, followed by The eastern region with 2,291 factories, then the Makkah region with 1,783 factories, noting that small enterprises represent the largest percentage of the total factories in the Kingdom until the end of the period, reaching 5,273 facilities, followed by medium enterprises with 4,386, then large enterprises, which recorded 830 of Total factories producing and under construction.
The bulletin included changes in licenses and factories that started production during the first quarter of 2022, where 260 new industrial licenses were issued, with investments amounting to 5.529 billion riyals, while production began in 498 factories with investments estimated at 15,974 billion riyals.
According to the bulletin, foreign investment in the Kingdom's factories represents 5% of the total investments in the sector, as the number of foreign factories in the Kingdom is about 810.
