The Saudi Heritage Authority has registered "253" new archaeological and historical sites in the National Antiquities Register, as part of its efforts to discover, document, register and preserve archaeological and historical sites in the Kingdom.
Jasser Al-Harbash, CEO of the authority, explained that the archaeological sites whose registration was approved include (141) sites in the Asir region, and (112 sites in the Hail region, represented in facilities and architectural units of different styles, and a large number of inscriptions, drawings, and rock markings The ancient ones dating back to the prehistoric period, and some Islamic inscriptions and writings.
Al-Harbash stressed that the authority is taking accelerated steps towards documenting historical and archaeological sites in various regions of the Kingdom, registering them in the National Antiquities Register, archiving and digitizing them, and then containing them in a modern digital record that serves the cultural heritage of the Kingdom, calling on citizens and those interested to report on archaeological sites discovered through the platform. “Balagh” and the authority’s official account on Twitter and the authority’s branches across the Kingdom’s regions, noting the citizen’s awareness and role as an essential partner in preserving and caring for the heritage of his country.
