Saudi Ministry of Defense: Freeing two American citizens from the Houthis and transferring them to Riyadh

The official spokesman for the Ministry of Defense, Brigadier General Turki Al-Maliki, stated that as an extension of the solid partnership within the framework of military cooperation and joint security coordination between the governments of the Kingdom and the United States of America, two American girls were released from detention in the capital, Sanaa, which is under the control of the Houthis, and they were evacuated and transferred to the temporary capital, Aden, and then to Riyadh.
Brigadier General Al-Maliki explained that the two American girls were detained and subjected to ill-treatment in the capital, Sana’a, during a family visit.
Brigadier Al-Maliki added that the two girls were transferred from Aden to the city of Riyadh by the Royal Saudi Air Force, and the necessary health care was provided to the two girls upon their arrival, and then they were handed over to the American officials who were receiving them.
Brigadier General Al-Maliki stressed that the coordination of this joint operation between the government of the Kingdom and the United States of America to evacuate American nationals from Yemen embodies the strength of bilateral relations, as it is a continuation of military cooperation and joint security coordination to serve common interests and achieve national security for the two countries, and comes within the framework of security and intelligence cooperation to combat terrorist organizations. In Yemen, such as Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, the terrorist organization ISIS, and the terrorist Houthi militia, which has been designated a terrorist group under UN Security Council Resolution No. (2624).
