The Arab Economic and Social Council supports Saudi Arabia in hosting Expo 2030
Beth: the Assistant Minister of Finance for Macro-Financial Policies and International Relations, Mr. Abdulaziz AlRasheed, headed the Kingdom’s delegation at the 109th meeting of the Arab Economic and Social Council at the ministerial level, in Cairo, with the presence of the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit.
The Kingdom's delegation included the Assistant Deputy Minister of Finance for International Relations Mr. Naif Alenzi and a number of specialists from the Ministry of Finance and the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority as well as the General Authority for Foreign Trade.
The meeting fostered discussions on the ongoing joint Arab action, including the implementation of the decisions of the previous session of the Council as well as recent activities the economic and social sector in the League of Arab States. The council also discussed measures taken to implement the decisions of the Council aimed at strengthening joint Arab action in social and economic aspects.
The Council has expressed its support for the Kingdom in hosting Expo 2030 in Riyadh. It also agreed on adopting a transit regulation agreement between the amended Arab countries.
It is worth noting that the Economic and Social Council is one of the main functions of the League of Arab States, and it includes the ministers of Arab member states specialized in economic and financial affairs. It also holds a council of preparatory meetings for the Arab summits in the economic and social fields.
