Saudi Arabia Hosts the "E1" Electric Boat World Championship on January 24

Saudi Arabia will host the Electric Speedboat World Championship "E1" in Jeddah from January 24-25, organized by the Saudi Marine Sports and Diving Federation in collaboration with the International Powerboat Federation, under the supervision of the Ministry of Sports and in partnership with the Public Investment Fund.
Pre-Event Press Conference
The media center at the event headquarters hosted the pre-event press conference on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. The conference was attended by Rudy Basso, CEO and co-founder of the "E1" series; Saudi team member Mishaal Al-Obaidan; and the defending champions from the previous season, British Sam Coleman and Finnish Emma Kimiläinen, along with a distinguished presence from various media outlets.
At the beginning of the conference, Rudy Basso expressed his happiness at returning to Saudi Arabia, specifically Jeddah, to host the event that kicks off the global season of the "E1" series, which includes seven rounds in seven different cities worldwide. He stated, "The success of the previous edition has raised expectations, and preparations are in full swing thanks to the collaborative efforts. I would like to thank the representatives of the Saudi Marine Sports and Diving Federation and the Ministry of Sports for their support in completing the arrangements. The fans will witness strong competitions and a fantastic experience, and we look forward to the event's start, wishing the participants the best of luck."
For her part, Saudi team member Mishaal Al-Obaidan said, "I am proud to represent the Kingdom in this sporting event, which is part of a series of global events taking place on home soil. I am grateful for the opportunity to compete in front of my family and the local community, which wouldn't have been possible without the great support we receive as athletes under the vision of our leadership."
She added, "I gained a lot from my participation last year and, with the team, I aim to deliver an excellent performance and achieve a strong start to the season."
Meanwhile, the defending champions, Sam Coleman and Emma Kimiläinen, expressed their immense happiness and fond memories in Jeddah, hoping their team would achieve success again this season.
Sam said, "It is essential to apply the strategy that will be developed and utilize the data and statistics provided by advanced technologies in collaboration with our team partners." He emphasized the importance of team spirit and translating that during the race, given the intense competition from other teams with the necessary talents and capabilities to win.
The championship, organized by the Ministry of Sports, presents an innovative vision for traditional racing by developing marine transport systems based on environmentally-friendly charging stations at race locations, reinforcing the concept of sustainable marine practices. The "RaceBird" electric boats captured attention with outstanding performances during the first season of the championship, which took place in February 2024 on the shores of the Red Sea in Jeddah.
