The Chinese city of Yuxi strives to become an international logistics center
BEIJING - Beth:
After the commissioning of the China-Laos railway, Yuxi, one of the important railway cities in southwest China's Yunnan Province, is expected to become an international logistics hub.
The railway extends about 1,035 km, including 422 km within the borders of the Republic of Laos. The line starts from Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province of China, and ends in the Lao capital of Vientiane, helping to reduce the travel time between the two cities by about 10 hours. The railway has five stations in Yuxi, including Yuxi Station, Yanhee Station, Ishnan Station, Huanyan Station and Yuanyang Station.
With the start of the railway line operation, Yuxi City will expand its logistics services to meet the requirements of other sectors served by Yanhee City Station and other freight train stations in the south, which will contribute to strengthening the city's construction activities as an international logistics port that covers the rest of the country, and even extends its services to include South and Southeast Asia region.
Yuxi is in the middle of Yunnan Province of China, where it is not only a vital transportation hub, but also one of the province's tobacco, vegetable, fruit and flower production centers, and an important gathering area serving companies involved in cigarette manufacturing, mining, mineral extraction, manufacturing equipment and biomedicine, and plays a role important as a leading area in the field of the digital economy.
Continuous efforts to develop a modern industrial system in the city have also contributed to strengthening the city's logistics sector. It is reported that the volume of cargo shipped in Yuxi City reached 160 million tons in 2020, with the city's logistics sector achieving an annual income of 63.2 million yuan.
