Moves to advance five promising sectors in Saudi Arabia and raise the volume of trade exchange between the Kingdom and Morocco

Betht: The Saudi-Moroccan Business Council in the Federation of Saudi Chambers of Commerce started major moves to advance five promising sectors in the fields of tourism, electricity, renewable energies, logistics and food, in an important step to address the decline in the volume of trade exchange between the two kingdoms, which decreased from 11 billion riyals in 2011 to 3, 38 billion riyals, in 2019.


According to the head of the Saudi-Moroccan Business Council, Ali bin Berman Al-Yami, the council recently approved four work teams as liaison officers from the Saudi side, in the targeted sectors, pointing out that the coming period will witness continuous and mutual visits between the two sides and the establishment of joint events, exhibitions and meetings between the Kingdom and Morocco, which will include Most notably, the Two Kingdoms Exhibition, which is scheduled to be held in Jeddah during the year 2022 AD.

Al-Yami pointed out that the results of the visit paid by the members of the Saudi-Moroccan Business Council to the Kingdom of Morocco, which resulted in the signing of four agreements with the Moroccan side, will contribute significantly to advancing more trade and economic cooperation.

For his part, Younes Bourais, the commercial attaché at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco, noted the opening of the Saudi commercial attaché, which represents an extension of the efforts of the General Authority for Foreign Trade to enhance the Kingdom's commercial presence in Morocco, develop the existing economic relations between the two brotherly countries and contribute to removing obstacles facing the private sector.

He said that economic diversification and attracting investments is one of the goals of the ambitious "Vision 2030", launched by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in 2016; A comprehensive program that attaches special importance to strengthening cooperation relations between the Kingdom and its Arab and Islamic surroundings. Therefore, this vision provides an appropriate framework for activating the economic role entrusted to the Saudi-Moroccan Business Council, to create investment opportunities and develop trade exchange.
