Saudi Arabia .. a new step to localize the medical supplies industry
Enhancing digital transformation in the industrial sector in the context of the trend towards the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the transfer of important technologies to the local market, in addition to increasing job opportunities, training and education for the sons and daughters of the country.
RIYADH - The Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones "Modon" has signed a contract for leasing an industrial land in the Third Industrial City of Jeddah to localize the medical supplies industry in the Kingdom with a local and global partnership.
The CEO, Eng. Khalid bin Muhammad Al-Salem, stated that MODON continues to support the industrial sector with qualitative, value-added investments to diversify the national economy in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, and the initiatives entrusted to it in the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program “Ndaleb”.
And he indicated that a contract for leasing an industrial land with an area of 20,000 square meters was signed in the Third Industrial City in Jeddah with the "Mullenliky Dates" company, a Saudi-Swedish partnership between the Saudi Tamr Group and the International Mullenliky Company (JV) in order to establish a project to localize the manufacture of sterile surgical instruments ready for use in Operations - surgical trays - (urgical trays) in the industrial cities.
He stressed that the new project would contribute to the localization of the medical devices and supplies industry, and promote digital transformation in the industrial sector in the context of the trend towards the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the transfer of important technologies to the local market, in addition to increasing job opportunities, training and education for the sons and daughters of the country.
He explained that MODON has contributed to supporting the national economy since the height of the COVID-19 pandemic by providing the local market with world-class medical and pharmaceutical products and supplies, noting that the industrial cities host many medical and pharmaceutical industries that contribute to achieving medical and pharmaceutical security. Kingdom in line with Vision 2030.
And he indicated that MODON has succeeded in raising the number of factories in this vital sector in the industrial cities by 150% during the last five years, to nearly 173 factories between producer, existing and under construction, up from 64 factories in 2016, pointing to the richness and diversity of its products to include the medical supplies industry, Such as tubes and medical protective clothing, and the pharmaceutical industries, including cancer drugs, psychological treatments and antibiotics, as well as the manufacture of medical sterilizers, vitamins, and the manufacture of cosmetics.
Al-Salem said: “Despite the impact of the global economy on the COVID-19 pandemic, investment in industrial lands in the industrial cities witnessed a growth of 21% by the end of the year 2020, as a result of the incentives and facilitating measures that MODON provides to its partners in the private sector through its products and services. Innovative as part of its integrated strategy to empower the industry and contribute to increasing local content.
He revealed that MODON launched for the first time small areas of industrial land between 1700 m² and 3000 m² to support pioneers, entrepreneurs and small and medium enterprises. The third industrial city in Jeddah, the industrial city in Al-Kharj, and the third industrial city in Dammam.
Al-Salem drew attention to the fact that these industrial lands of all sizes are ready for direct investment because the infrastructure in them and other services such as electricity, water and high-speed internet have been developed in all industrial cities distributed throughout the Kingdom.
It is noteworthy that the Third Industrial City of Jeddah was established in 2012 on an area of 80 million square meters, of which 24 million square meters is a developed area that includes 539 industrial, logistical and service contracts between a product, an existing one, and under construction and establishment.
The third industrial city in Jeddah includes various products such as ready-made factories and small industrial lands, and is characterized by high infrastructure and unique services, and includes many important industries, most notably: food and beverage products, pharmaceutical products, computers, electronic and optical products, manufacturing industries and other industries with high added value, and activities It is characterized by its proximity to Al Haramain Train Station at a distance of 45 km, 62 km from Jeddah Islamic Port, and 77 km to King Abdulaziz International Airport.
