The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia called on Iran to engage in the ongoing nuclear negotiations seriously, to avoid escalation and not to expose the security and stability of the region to more tension, stressing the need for the international community to reach an agreement with stronger and longer determinants while implementing monitoring and control measures to prevent Iran from Obtaining nuclear weapons and developing the necessary capabilities for that, taking into account the deep concern of the countries of the region about the escalatory steps that Iran is taking to destabilize regional security and stability, including its nuclear program.

This came in the Kingdom's speech before the UN Security Council, in its session held yesterday, Thursday, via video call, under the item "The situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian issue", presented by His Excellency the Kingdom's permanent representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Abdullah bin Yahya Al-Muallimi.

At the beginning of the speech, Ambassador Al-Muallami welcomed Vietnam's presidency of the Security Council for this month, expressing the Kingdom's appreciation for the distinguished efforts of the Vietnam delegation in this distinguished council.

He explained that last April 17 coincided with the Palestinian Prisoner's Day, which is reminiscent of one of the examples of Israeli hostile policies against the Palestinian people, which had a major role in undermining the peace process and reaching a two-state solution, noting that the last of those policies was the Israeli forces' assault on Al-Aqsa Mosque. He expressed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's assertion that the Palestinian issue is its first issue, and its stance is firm on the Arab-Israeli conflict, reaffirming the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination, reclaim their land, and establish the Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, based on International legitimacy decisions and the Arab Peace Initiative, calling for the complete withdrawal of Israel from all occupied Arab lands, including the occupied Lebanese territories and the occupied Syrian Arab Golan.

Ambassador Al-Muallami reiterated the Kingdom’s call to the international community and the Security Council to stand firmly towards Israeli policies and push the peace process forward to reach an agreement that restores the Palestinian people their legitimate rights.

His Excellency addressed the Yemeni crisis, and said: The Kingdom presented an important initiative to solve the Yemeni crisis that includes a number of steps through which it is possible to reach the desired political solution in Yemen in line with the efforts of the United Nations and in accordance with the three references, Security Council Resolution 2216, the Gulf Cooperation Council initiative and the outputs National Dialogue Conference.

He added: The Kingdom notes that the Security Council welcomes the Saudi initiative and urges it to put more pressure on the Houthi militias to seize this opportunity and accept the initiative to move forward towards finding a solution to the suffering of the Yemeni people, which is still increasing due to the policies of these narrow militias that support Iran's destructive agendas. In the region.

And he indicated that the Kingdom recently, as part of its support for the Yemeni people, signed an agreement to supply a grant of oil derivatives in the amount of 422 million dollars.

Ambassador Al-Muallami condemned the systematic attacks by the Houthi militias on oil installations, civilians and infrastructure in the Kingdom, expressing his denunciation of the destructive Iranian role in this regard and in other attacks on the Kingdom, which a number of international reports referred to, such as some reports of the Secretary-General to implement the resolution. 2231 and Reports of the Panel of Experts of the Yemen Sanctions Committee (2140).

In conclusion, the Kingdom's permanent representative to the United Nations called on the Security Council to stand firm against these attacks, which threaten not only the security of the Kingdom, but also international energy supplies and endanger the lives of many civilians.
