Geagea calls for the election of a president "of another kind"
The head of the "Lebanese Forces" party, Samir Geagea, called for early parliamentary elections, and said that "changing the majority in order to bring in a president of the republic from another religion is the solution to the current Lebanese crisis."
He said that the Prime Minister-designate, Saad Hariri, is his friend, and they are in constant contact. He added, "We were not surprised by what happened in the matter of forming the government, but there is no solution but to change the authority through early parliamentary elections."
As for Nasrallah's call to form a techno-political government, Geagea said in an interview on Al-Jadeed TV that “we have formed similar governments for 50 years and we have seen where we have come, and therefore such governments will not be the solution,” adding that “we have big problems in Lebanon, which are The existence of a state alongside the state that controls its strategic decision, along with the borders problem and others.
Regarding the demand for the resignation of the president of the republic, he stressed that "the pressure for the resignation of the president will not change anything, but rather we have to change the ruling majority. If the president resigns today, another president will be elected by this majority, and if he is not as bad, it will be worse, and therefore the majority must be changed." For the sake of bringing in a president from another class, and these specifications apply to many, not just Samir Geagea.
Geagea said that "by virtue of his position, it is natural for him to be a candidate for the presidency of the country, but the matter is not his overriding concern and will not" destroy the land "to reach the presidency," as he put it.
