Saudi Arabia will host the 2025 men's basketball Asian Cup in Jeddah. This is the second time that Saudi Arabia has hosted this prestigious continental event; the last time the Asian Cup competitions were played in the kingdom was in 1997 in the capital Riyadh, during which Korea won the Cup after defeating Japan 78-76 in the final. The Saudi national basketball team also reached its first semi-final ever, where it took fourth place.

"The construction will be in two exciting years for basketball in the kingdom, especially considering the development in the country over the past years,"said Hagop khajarian, executive director of the FIBA Asia office. "The return of the Asian Basketball Cup to Saudi Arabia for the first time in almost three decades symbolizes the kingdom's commitment to the growth of basketball and its passion for sports,"he said. "It is also clear to see that in the recent steps they have taken in their program, we expect a great event that not only showcases the best of the AFC Asian Cup, but also highlights the wonderful journey of Saudi Arabia,"he added.
Ghassan Tashkent, president of the Saudi Basketball Federation, said that " hosting the prestigious Asian basketball event in the kingdom is an extension of the international events organized by Saudi Arabia in various aspects and sectors. "We in the kingdom firmly believe that hosting prestigious sporting events such as the Asian Basketball Cup provides us with an opportunity to develop sports in the Kingdom and showcase our basketball ambitions for the future,"he added. With this, the main event in Asia returns to the Gulf, since there is a constant growth of basketball in the region.
