The minister of industry and Mineral Resources, Bandar bin Ibrahim al-khorayef, stressed that the international mining conference is the most important around the world, with the support of the custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the attention and directives of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and prime minister, and in order to achieve the directives of the wise leadership aimed at supporting the mining sector in the Kingdom and enabling it as the third pillar of the national industry.. He pointed out that the third edition of the conference will witness the involvement of the supply and demand side of the most commonly used metals in achieving the world's trends to shift towards clean energy, to be a platform for discussion between the countries producing and consuming metals, and to ensure the continuity of investment in the sector starting from mines, manufacturing, refining and processing operations, in addition to dealing with various challenges in financing, infrastructure and logistics, which demonstrates the status of the conference and the diversity of participants. He pointed out that the conference focused in its second edition on new technologies in the mining sector, and will continue in its third edition and the upcoming sessions on supporting the adoption of technologies to create a more efficient, safe and environmentally friendly mining environment and activity, and will work on developing a road map to turn the in-depth discussions taking place in its sessions and activities into actions that can be applied on the ground, especially as the mining and metals sector faces many challenges, most notably the growing demand for metals in general, and the minerals necessary to achieve a shift towards renewable energy in particular. The minister of industry and Mineral Resources pointed out that the world is aware that the mining sector can only be developed by participating in dialogue and making influential decisions in this field, and searching for new and promising mining areas, stressing that the third edition of the conference will continue as a leading platform to lay more foundations for participation in decisions, actions and goals among investors, mining companies and parties involved in the mining sector around the world, and will also highlight the role that the target region can play in achieving the world's goals in green transformation.
