Details of the second edition of the "Saudi Tour 2022" l photos + video
The Ministry of Sports and the Saudi Cycling Federation revealed in a press conference held today, Sunday, in the “Maraya Hall” in Al-Ula Governorate, the participation of 16 international teams in the second edition of the “Saudi Tour 2022”, to be held during the period from 1 to 5 February, with a total distance of 831.3 km in five stages, which is one of the activities under the “Quality of Life” program.
The conference was attended by a member of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Cycling Federation, Engineer Sami Al-Owaidi, the official spokesman for the Royal Commission for Al-Ula Governorate, Abdul Rahman Al-Tariri, and the Deputy Director of Cycling at ASO Peraya Thault, and witnessed a presentation of the details of the tracks and the start and end centers for each of the five stages, where the first stage of the Winter Park “Winter” Park”, while the second stage will start from Taibah University for Girls, the third stage will start from Taymaa Hadaj well, the fourth stage will start from the winter park, while the race will conclude in the fifth stage in the old town of Al-Ula.
The official spokesman for the Royal Commission for Al-Ula Governorate, Abdul Rahman Al-Tariri, explained that Al-Ula has been associated with bicycles since ancient times, with the presence of many inscriptions in the region, especially in the direction of the Tabuk region. Sports tournaments in the coming period as a contribution to raising the quality of life in the region.
16 teams of 7 riders and 112 cyclists will participate in the Saudi Tour, covering a total distance of 831.3 km distributed over five stages.
The first track starts from the Winter Park and ends with a 198 km return, while the second track starts from Taibah University for Girls and reaches Abu Raka with a distance of 163.9 km, while the third track starts from Hadaj Tayma well to the old town of Al-Ula with a distance of 181.2 km, while the fourth track begins From the Winter Park to Matal Al Hurra with a distance of 149.3 km, the fifth route starts from the old town of Al-Ula and returns to it with a distance of 138.9 km.
The international teams participating in the race are: Bahrain Victorious (Britain), Bora-Hansgrohe (Germany), Cofidis (France), Lotto Soudal (Belgium), “Quick Step Alpha Vinyl” (Belgium), Bike Exchange - Gekko (Australia), Team DSM (Netherlands), Team Emirates (UAE), Alpsin-Phoenix (Belgium), B&B Hotels - KTM (France), Arkia-Samsek (France), Total Energy (France), UNO X Pro cycling team ( Norway), Kuwaiti Professional Cycling Team (Kuwait), Terengganu Polygen (Malaysia), and Fino-Astana (Kazakhstan).
The race is accompanied by a number of sports events and races, foremost of which are the public race, the women’s race, and the junior race organized by the Saudi Bicycle Federation, as well as a race for children.
