At the beginning of the meeting, the President of the Federation of Saudi Chambers, Ajlan Al-Ajlan, praised the historical relationship that extends for many years between the Kingdom and Russia, noting the depth of the relationship between the two countries and the important visit of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz "may God protect him" to Russia in the year 2107, and he welcomed the presence of the Russian ambassador for this important meeting. , which is a strong impetus towards developing more trade and economic relations.
For his part, Russian Ambassador Sergei Kozlov stressed during the meeting that his country views the development of trade relations between the two countries as an essential task that reflects the directives of the leadership of the two countries, deepening, revitalizing and diversifying the contract of partnership and friendship between the two sides, and soon we will celebrate the 100th jubilee of establishing the diplomatic relationship between the two countries.
He pointed out that the historic visit of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, "may God protect him," to Russia, as well as the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Riyadh, established a solid and solid relationship to move forward in developing relations strategically.
The Russian ambassador indicated that a commercial attaché was appointed at his country's embassy in Riyadh, which is a new step in overcoming all economic obstacles facing Saudi businessmen, and promised to support and study the proposal to open a Russian bank in Riyadh.
For his part, Chairman of the Saudi-Russian Business Council, Tariq Al-Qahtani, stressed the importance of strengthening economic and trade cooperation during the coming period, and everything that serves the two countries through the council's work.
The meeting touched on some challenges that contributed to the weak volume of trade exchange between the Kingdom and Russia, including the lack of a direct shipping line to facilitate import and export operations, and the lack of sufficient information on the business environment and investment opportunities. He also stressed the need to develop a road map for the development of economic cooperation between the two countries by focusing on To develop trade and investment agreements, open a direct flight line between the two countries, facilitate obtaining visas, and increase cooperation in the targeted sectors, including the agricultural sector.
