His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of energy, participated in the meetings of the Working Group on energy transformations, the fifteenth ministerial meeting for clean energy, and the ninth ministerial meeting of the Innovation Mission initiative, which were held in the city of Foz do Iguassu, in Brazil, on the third and Fourth of October.
The meetings included discussing the policies of transition to sustainable energy and a fair transition in the field of energy, within the framework of the efforts of the group of twenty aimed at strengthening international cooperation to achieve environmental sustainability and support innovations in the fields of clean energy.
During the meetings, His Highness The Minister of energy stressed the importance of balancing economic growth, energy security and efforts to confront climate change, pointing to the kingdom's leadership in carbon technologies, stressing the kingdom's ambition to be an example in the use of circular carbon economy technologies, and a global leader in the production and export of clean energy.
His Highness reviewed the kingdom's efforts to increase its capacity to produce electricity from renewable energy to reach about جي gigawatts by the end of the yearم.
He also talked about the establishment of a hydrogen production center in Ras Al-Khair Industrial City, as well as the creation of a huge carbon capture and storage project that will have a capacity ofع millions of tons per year by the yearم.
