Swiss Eduardo Mortara crowned first place in the second round of Formula E Diriyah
Saudi Arabia - The second round of the Diriyah E-Prix 2022 concluded today, with Swiss Eduardo Mortara, driver of the "Rocket Venturi Racing - Monaco" team, winning first place in the second round, while the Dutch Robin Frings, the driver of the "Invision Racing" team, came in second, while the Brazilian Lucas di Grassi of the "Rocket Venturi Racing - Monaco" team came in third place.
The competition comes within the eighth season of the EBB FIA Formula E World Championship, which the Kingdom hosted for the fourth time over two consecutive days, January 28 and 29, 2022 AD, in a race held at night under the lights.
The race was attended by Prince Khaled bin Sultan Al-Abdullah Al-Faisal, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation and the Saudi Motorsports Company.
The start was at 8 pm on Saturday and lasted 45 minutes, while the free practice started at 1:30 pm, during which German Pascal Wehrlein, driver of the TAG Heuer Porsche team, succeeded in achieving the fastest time, while French Jean-Eric Verne, driver of the DS Cheetah team, succeeded in achieving the fastest time. Secondly, Britain's Oliver Rowland, driver for the Mahindra Racing Team, came third.
At 3:40 p.m., the qualifying trials for the first group began, followed by the qualifying trials for the second group, then the knockout qualifiers began, which ended with the achievement of the current world champion and winner of the first round race that took place yesterday, the Dutch driver Nick de Vries, the Mercedes-Benz EQ team driver, at the center. The first pole was overtaken by Swiss Eduardo Mortara of the "Rocket Venturi Racing - Monaco" team in the final round to determine the places, while Robin Frings of the British "Envision Racing" team came in third place to start.
It is noteworthy that the competitions of the eighth season of the EBB FIA Formula E World Championships began with the first round on Friday, and the Dutch driver Nick de Vries won the Mercedes-Benz EQ, who finished tenth in the second stage today after Technical problems, while his Belgian teammate Stoffel Vandoorne finished second, while Britain's Jake Dennis, driver of "Avalanche Andretti", managed to take third place.
