Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received today at the Federal Palace Macky Sall, President of the Republic of Senegal.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi praised the relations with Senegal on the political, economic, security and cultural levels, and the growing cooperation between the two countries in the field of capacity building, in the context of Egypt’s belief in the importance of investing in human resources on the continent, stressing the importance of continuing to work on developing bilateral cooperation projects between the two brotherly countries during the coming period. Especially with regard to promoting trade exchange and Egyptian investments in various fields.
For his part, the President of Senegal expressed his country’s appreciation for the distinguished historical relations with Egypt, stressing the keenness to develop these relations in various fields, especially trade and economic cooperation, to suit the depth and distinction of political relations between the two countries, and praising in this context the activity of Egyptian companies in Senegal in various sectors. He expressed his aspiration to increase Egyptian investments in his country, in addition to maximizing the technical support provided by Egypt to the sons of Senegal in the areas of capacity building, especially in light of the huge development boom that Egypt is currently witnessing and the ongoing and planned major national projects.
President Macky Sall also affirmed keenness to benefit from the Egyptian efforts, experience and vision to enhance joint African action and lead the African Union, especially in light of Senegal’s upcoming assumption of the presidency of the Union during the upcoming annual African Summit, in addition to what the African continent is witnessing in general, and the Sahel and Eastern regions. Africa in particular is facing successive and increasing challenges, which requires intensifying cooperation and coordination with Egypt and its leadership against the background of the pivotal weight that Egypt represents in the region and the entire continent in terms of maintaining peace and security, as well as Egyptian positions aimed at achieving regional stability, which are always reflected on The great Egyptian support for the various countries of the continent at various levels.
The official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic stated that the meeting witnessed the holding of individual discussions, which were followed by extensive discussions between the delegations of the two countries, where the Egyptian President welcomed President Macky Sall in Egypt, expressing appreciation for the close historical relations and joint cooperation between the two brotherly countries, stressing Egypt’s keenness to strengthen Relations and consolidation of strategic cooperation with Senegal in various fields to establish a sustainable partnership between the two countries, especially in light of the importance of Senegal’s role in West Africa, which reflects more coordination and cooperation with regard to regional security issues and complementary work to establish peace and stability in the African continent.
The Spokesman added that the meeting between the two presidents also dealt with discussions on the latest regional developments of mutual interest, especially the issue of the Renaissance Dam, where it was agreed to strengthen coordination and joint intensive consultation to follow up on developments in this regard, especially in light of Senegal’s upcoming assumption of the presidency of the African Union for the current year. .
They also discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the two brotherly countries during the coming period in the field of combating terrorism in the Sahel region, and upgrading the capabilities of the national military forces in the region to confront terrorist organizations, taking into account the efforts undertaken by Egypt to combat terrorism through the establishment of training courses to build the institutions of the Sahel countries. and the continent as a whole, as well as raising its capabilities in various technical and military fields, as well as programs to combat extremist ideology presented by various ancient Egyptian religious institutions with the aim of upholding the values of moderate Islam on the level of the African continent.


At the conclusion of the talks, the two presidents witnessed the signing ceremony of a number of memoranda of understanding and cooperation agreements between the two brotherly countries in the fields of electricity, renewable energy, antiquities, culture, sports, and mutual exemption from visas for holders of diplomatic and mission passports.
