Supporting Saudi coffee farmers by signing investment agreements
The Saudi Center for Economic Business, in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture and the Ministry of Culture, organized a ceremony for signing agreements between investors from national companies and owners of Saudi coffee farms.
The signing ceremony took place in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Muhammad bin Abdulaziz bin Muhammad bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Jazan region.
The Minister of Commerce, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Center for Economic Business, Dr. Majed Al-Qasabi, the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Abdul-Rahman Al-Fadhli, and the CEO of the Culinary Arts Authority, Mayada Badr.
The ceremony witnessed the participation of Saudi Aramco, which began more than four years ago to empower coffee farmers in the Jizan mountains as part of its citizenship programs.
The agreements aim to enhance cooperation between national companies and coffee farmers in well-known local areas, including Khawlani coffee farms, through the companies’ commitment to purchase coffee crops in order to ensure the sustainability of production, enhance its market share to compete locally and globally, and to enhance their participation in the prosperity of the Kingdom’s agricultural wealth.
Among the results of the agreements drawn up: Highlighting at least 3 brands bearing the historical legacy of more than 300 years in growing coffee in the Kingdom, contributing to raising the local production rate from 2% to 10% within 5 years, and linking producers, coffee farmers and investors with e-commerce platforms, markets and specialized events.
The signing ceremony was accompanied by the organization of the Saudi coffee event, which included a special pavilion to display raw coffee products and their development journey to the final product, in addition to an open meeting to review the coffee sector business model in front of the participating parties, and to adopt communication channels to address challenges and identify opportunities for developing the sector.
