The AFC reviews the Kingdom's readiness to host the 2027 Asian Cup finals
A delegation from the Asian Football Confederation will arrive at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh tomorrow, Friday, for a five-day inspection visit to the Kingdom, with the vote on the winning bid to host the 2027 Asian Cup finals approaching.
The visit includes an inspection of the facilities and plans of the "Saudi Arabia 2027" file to host the tournament for the first time in the Kingdom's history.
During this visit, the Asian delegation will live a large part of the experience that awaits the fans and the teams present and participating in 2027, as it will start from the Saudi capital, Riyadh, through the city of Dammam, and ending with the city of Jeddah, which are the three cities that were chosen by the Saudi Football Association to run for the candidacy to host the tournament. In eight stadiums, five will be built and renovated over the next few years.
The Saudi Football Association had officially submitted to host the tournament in February of last year with a slogan bearing a new vision for the future of Asian football, “Together for the future of Asia”, believing from the file that the tournament is for the entire Asian continent, as the Kingdom looks forward to holding an unforgettable tournament, since Saudi Arabia One of the countries that believes most in football development plans, and aspires to play a prominent role in the advancement of Asian football by hosting the tournament for the first time.
Among the largest projects that the Kingdom is working on in preparation for the tournament, is the construction and renovation of five stadiums that will be, along with three others, ready to host 24 Asian teams in 2027.
Ibrahim Al-Qassem, CEO of the file and Secretary-General of the Saudi Football Association, welcomed the delegation of the AFC, stressing full readiness for this visit, and readiness to present and discuss Saudi Arabia’s 2027 plans.
It is worth noting that the Saudi 2027 file is competing with the candidacy files of countries (Qatar, India, and Iran), as the Asian Confederation will announce the winning file during the next year 2022 through the voting system for the members of the General Assembly of the Federation.
