Saudi Arabia unanimously wins the elections for the Standardization Board (SMC) and the Accreditation Council (MAC) at the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC)
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia unanimously won the membership elections for the Standardization Management Council (SMC) for the 2022-2024 session and for the Accreditation Council (MAC) for the 2022-2024 session of the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC), following the Kingdom’s candidacy in the elections that were held today within The work of the twenty-second meeting of the Board of Directors of the Institute (SMIIC/BoD), which is hosted by Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah.
The Kingdom will continue its active participation in the activities of the specialized councils at the Institute for the year 2024, in addition to its presidency of the Board of Directors, which will end at the end of the year 2021 AD.
The Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC) aims to activate cooperation and joint Islamic action in the field of standardization activities to enhance economic and industrial growth, and maximize the benefit of intra-trade among member states.
The institute is also working on developing an integrative framework that consolidates cooperation and integration as a basic principle in achieving the interests of member states in general, in addition to developing the infrastructure system for standardization and quality activities in Islamic countries, by activating the role of the specialized technical work committees in the institute.
The King Salman Convention Center in Madinah hosted the work of the twenty-second session of the Board of Directors of the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC), as part of the Kingdom’s hosting of meetings of the Institute’s organs during the period from October 31 to November 2, 2021 AD, with the participation of delegations of Islamic countries and regional and international organizations.
