The President of the Arab Parliament inaugurates the Arab Center for Combating Terrorism
Beth: The Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Adel bin Abdul Rahman Al-Assoumi, opened the proceedings of the first session of the second session of the third legislative term, which was held today, Saturday, October 16, 2021 AD, at the headquarters of the League of Arab States in Cairo, in the presence of Dr. for the Child, and Ayman Othman Al-Barout, Secretary General of the Arab Parliament for the Child, and members of the Arab Parliament, stressing that the Arab Parliament will remain an active partner in serving the higher interests of the Arab nation, and a complementary wing of Arab official diplomacy in defending all Arab issues.
During the session, the Speaker of the Arab Parliament announced the launch of the Arab Center for Combating Terrorism and Extremist Ideology, as an institutional tool to provide technical support to parliamentarians in this vital field, and this center will be the first of its kind at the Arab level, looking forward to becoming a regional and international center to support parliamentary efforts in the field anti-terrorism .
The President of the Arab Parliament also announced the establishment of a high-level parliamentary working group on science and technology, which will coordinate its work with the corresponding group in the Inter-Parliamentary Union with the aim of linking and integrating science and employing innovation and technology in parliamentary work.
At the beginning of his speech, Al-Asoumi reiterated the Arab Parliament's firm and permanent support for the Palestinian cause, as it is the central and first issue for the Arab people, referring to the recent moves taken by Parliament by addressing the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, and heads of state. Regional Parliaments, and the Director-General of UNESCO, on the crimes and systematic violations of the occupying power in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Ibrahimi Mosque.
Al-Asumi also affirmed the Arab Parliament's support for the great efforts made by His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, may God protect him and protect him, in protecting Islamic and Christian holy sites in Al-Quds Al-Sharif, in his capacity as the Hashemite custodian of these holy sites.
In the context of the developments in the Republic of Yemen, and in light of the persistence of the terrorist Houthi militia in its crimes against humanity and war crimes committed against our Yemeni people, especially innocent women and children, and the continuous attacks of this terrorist militia against civilian objects, economic facilities and civilian airports in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, The Speaker of the Arab Parliament called on the international community to take immediate and urgent action and assume its legal and moral responsibility to stop these crimes and end the tragic situation experienced by the brothers in the city of Marib and the Al-Abdiyyah district, warning at the same time that the continuation of the international silence towards these crimes will encourage this militia to persist in its crimes. terrorist.
During his speech, Al-Asoumi praised the sincere and appreciated efforts made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and his faithful Crown Prince, His Royal Highness Prince Muhammad bin Salman, may God protect and protect them, to solve this crisis to end the suffering of the Yemeni people. The brother and the realization of his legitimate aspirations for security and stability, praising the return of the Yemeni government to the interim capital, Aden, and wishing it all success.
In light of the recent developments on the Lebanese arena, which resulted in a number of deaths and injuries, Al-Asumi affirmed that the Arab Parliament is following up on these situations with great concern, calling on all Lebanese parties to exercise restraint and avoid violence and escalation, to prevent the country from entering a vicious cycle of sectarian confrontations. Upholding the supreme national interest of Lebanon and its people, and working to restore internal security and stability.
In the context of developments in the situation in the State of Libya, Al-Asoumi affirmed the Arab Parliament’s full support for the Libyan brothers, calling on the Libyans at this delicate stage in their country’s history to unite and advance the country’s supreme interest, and to move forward towards holding presidential and parliamentary elections, to achieve national consensus and strengthen Internal security and stability, and the preservation of the security and sovereignty of the Libyan state.
Al-Asumi also affirmed the Arab Parliament’s support for the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Republic of Sudan in protecting their water security and refusing to prejudice their legal and historical rights in the waters of the Nile River. In the context of Arab efforts towards achieving sustainable development, Al-Asoumi congratulated the leadership and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on the occasion of the launch of the Forum of the Green Saudi Initiative and the Summit of the Green Middle East Initiative during the period from 23 to 25 October, which confirms the Kingdom’s leadership in supporting international efforts towards Take concrete measures to combat climate change.
Stemming from his keenness to strengthen the presence of the Arab Parliament on the international scene, Al-Asoumi referred to the efforts of the Arab Parliament at the regional and international levels, pointing out that new institutional partnerships were launched with major parliamentary and international organizations, where an agreement was signed, the first of its kind with the United Nations Office He also indicated that during the next few days a cooperation agreement will be signed with the Inter-Parliamentary Union, to start sustainable institutional cooperation in many areas.
