The Saudi Foreign Minister participates in the Cairo meeting ... and affirms the Kingdom's stances towards Arab issues and Iran's threats
Cairo - His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated today in the meeting of the League of Arab States Council at the ministerial level in its extraordinary session, held at the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo.
His Highness affirmed during his speech at the meeting that the Kingdom’s position is firm by standing by the Palestinian people and supporting all efforts aimed at reaching a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue, and that peace is a strategic option that guarantees the stability of the region.
His Highness said, "We call on the international community to exert more efforts to revive the peace process that achieves the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital."
His Highness added: The Kingdom welcomes the Yemeni parties' implementation of the Riyadh agreement, and appreciates the Yemeni parties ’keenness to uphold the interest of Yemen and achieve the aspirations of its people to restore security and stability, and that the Kingdom affirms that the implementation of the Riyadh agreement is an important step towards achieving a political solution and ending the Yemeni crisis.
His Highness the Minister of Foreign Affairs reiterated the Kingdom's rejection of the threat posed by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia to the security and stability of Yemen and its hostile actions through its repeated attacks with missiles and drones targeting civilian populated areas, airports, facilities and civilian facilities in the Kingdom.
His Highness expressed the Kingdom's keenness on the unity of Libya and its territorial integrity, adding that the Kingdom warns of the danger of regional interference in Libya, reiterating the Kingdom's support for the outcomes of the Berlin Conference and the provisions of the Cairo Declaration.
He said: The Kingdom welcomes the results of the vote to form the new Libyan executive authority, and looks forward to this step achieving security, stability and prosperity in Libya.
His Highness affirmed that the Kingdom supports the brothers in Iraq to achieve stability at all levels, and urges the international community to fulfill its responsibilities to ensure the achievement of what the Iraqi people aspire to, and to protect their interests away from interference in their internal affairs.
He added, "One of the most dangerous threats facing our Arab region is the continuous violations of international laws, charters and norms by the Iranian regime by threatening the security and stability of our countries, interfering in their internal affairs and supporting armed militias that sow chaos, division and devastation in many Arab countries."
His Highness the Foreign Minister stressed the importance of the countries most affected by the Iranian threats to be an original party in any international negotiations with the Iranian regime over its nuclear program and the rest of its security-threatening activities in the region.
