Riyadh | BETH – October 15, 2026
Saudi Finance Minister Mohammed Al-Jadaan affirmed that the Kingdom has contributed to ensuring the continuity of energy supplies and global trade flows through its strategic investments in alternative routes, despite disruptions affecting the global economy.
Speaking at the third meeting of G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors in Bangkok, Al-Jadaan said the global economy had demonstrated an ability to adapt to recurring crises. He emphasized that strengthening economic resilience requires identifying its costs, establishing financing mechanisms, and safeguarding the foundations of growth.
He stressed the importance of international cooperation to ensure affordable energy supplies and the uninterrupted flow of essential goods, helping contain inflation and ease pressure on national budgets.
In separate remarks during International Monetary Fund meetings, Al-Jadaan emphasized that strengthening economic resilience requires diversifying economies, reinforcing energy and food security, and developing more resilient supply chains and infrastructure.
He explained that managing prolonged economic shocks depends not only on the size of available reserves and resources, but also on how efficiently they are utilized while preserving the capacity to respond to future crises. He stressed that effective economic policies must protect long-term transformation and growth.
Al-Jadaan also noted that preparedness for artificial intelligence has become an essential component of economic growth and resilience, rather than merely a technological issue.
He called for strengthening the role of international financial institutions in supporting economies most vulnerable to risks through financing, technical assistance, and economic policy advice.
BETH Analysis | Strategic Investments Deliver Results
Al-Jadaan’s remarks highlight the strategic value of Saudi Arabia’s long-term investments in energy routes, transportation, and infrastructure, which have become practical instruments for maintaining supplies and trade during periods of crisis.
This experience demonstrates that economic resilience is measured not solely by the scale of financial resources, but also by an economy’s ability to sustain operations, adapt to disruptions, and protect growth during market turbulence.
The significance of Saudi investments therefore extends beyond the national economy, making them an influential factor in the stability of global energy markets and international trade.
