Operation “Dawn of Yemen” entered its eleventh day amid escalating clashes around Taiz, which has become one of the main fronts determining the course of military operations aimed at reclaiming areas under Houthi control.

The Yemeni Armed Forces announced that they had carried out 2,309 targeting operations using aircraft, artillery, and drones. According to their statement, these operations resulted in the neutralization of approximately 1,250 Houthi fighters and the destruction or disabling of more than 460 military vehicles and assets.

Government forces continue fighting on five fronts around Taiz, supported by Saudi air operations targeting Houthi positions, reinforcements, and missile launch platforms.

Taiz Under Siege

Meanwhile, the Houthis have intensified their attacks and shelling around the city, as humanitarian conditions continue to deteriorate.

The Yemeni government has called on the United Nations and the Security Council to intervene urgently to lift the siege, while the European Union has urged that food, medicine, fuel, and water be allowed into the city.

Saudi Arabia Foils New Attack

The Coalition to Support Legitimacy announced the interception and destruction of a drone in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province, as efforts to counter aerial threats continue alongside military operations in Yemen.

BETH Analysis | The Battle of Attrition

The scale of operations reflects an expanding military effort to dismantle Houthi defenses and cut their supply lines. However, continued fighting around Taiz indicates that superior firepower has yet to translate into a decisive victory on the ground, due to rugged terrain, fortified Houthi positions, multiple battlefronts, and humanitarian considerations requiring caution in residential areas.

Taiz holds strategic importance beyond its geographical boundaries. Successfully lifting the siege and securing its roads would give government forces greater ability to connect their fronts and expand military operations.

Conversely, the continuation of the siege gives the Houthis an opportunity to prolong the battle and turn the humanitarian situation into an additional factor in the conflict.

Developments

Houthis Target Yemeni Government Headquarters in Aden

Yemeni Information Minister Muammar Al-Eryani announced that the Houthis targeted the Maashiq Presidential Palace in Aden with five missiles.

The Ministry of Information reported that two security escorts were killed, while confirming that the Prime Minister and cabinet members were unharmed.

Strategic Significance: This marks a different development, as the attacks have expanded to target the seat of executive authority in Yemen’s interim capital, rather than being confined to military fronts and Saudi facilities.

The attack warrants a separate breaking news report, as it elevates the confrontation to the level of targeting Yemen’s governing institutions.

Yemeni Army Repels Attack on Jabal Han

The Taiz Military Command announced that it had repelled a Houthi attack on the strategic Jabal Han mountain, west of Taiz, following heavy artillery shelling of military positions and surrounding residential neighborhoods.

The statement did not specify any casualty figures.

Significance: The attack reflects continued Houthi attempts to seize strategic high ground west of Taiz, while government forces maintain their defensive positions.

Drone Intercepted Over Khamis Mushait

Coalition spokesperson Major General Turki Al-Maliki announced the interception and destruction of a drone over Khamis Mushait, marking another development in the aerial threats being countered by Saudi air defenses.
