Operation “Dawn of Yemen” entered its third day as government forces moved from consolidating gains in Mokha and Bab al-Mandab to opening the Al-Wazi’iyah front west of Taiz, in order to cut Houthi supply lines between the highlands and the coast and push the threat away from maritime routes. Government forces announced the capture of strategic highlands, as the battle moved into more difficult and sensitive terrain.
Meanwhile, the Houthi militia carried out missile and drone attacks on Saudi Arabia, while also targeting Aden Airport with missiles and drones.
Government forces, supported by coalition air power, continue to advance operations along the western coast and the Taiz fronts, while naval operations target weapons depots and maritime threat capabilities in Hodeidah.
Analysis: “Dawn of Yemen” is no longer only a coastal operation; it is beginning to turn into a battle linking the coast, Taiz, and then the interior. Meanwhile, the Houthis appear to be trying to shift the weight of the confrontation from battlefield losses to attacks beyond the front lines.
