RIYADH | BETH

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior has announced the start of procedures to regularize the status of all Yemeni nationals residing in the Kingdom through irregular means, under directives from Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and in response to a request from Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, Chairman of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council.

The ministry said the process is being carried out in cooperation with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Human Resources and Social Development, as well as the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), as part of the Kingdom’s continued support for the Yemeni people.

The Interior Ministry confirmed that benefiting from the regularization process requires possession of a Yemeni passport. It added that the start date of the procedures and the relevant regulations will be announced through the official accounts of the General Directorate of Passports and the concerned authorities.

BETH Analysis

The decision goes beyond addressing an administrative issue. It provides a clear legal pathway for a segment of Yemeni nationals living in the Kingdom to regularize their status, while continuing Saudi Arabia’s broader political and humanitarian support for Yemen.

The involvement of several government entities also indicates that the process will be structured and institutional, rather than a limited temporary measure.
