The official spokesman for the Coalition Forces, “Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen,” Major General Turki Al-Maliki, stated that two ballistic missiles were intercepted and destroyed over the cities of Khamis Mushait and Jazan, in addition to four drones over Khamis Mushait.

Al-Maliki said:

“We will continue to take and implement operational measures to deter the terrorist Houthi militia.”

The announcement comes two days after a drone attack on the “Taibah” electricity distribution station in Madinah, which the competent authorities later confirmed had been planned and carried out by the Houthis. The Coalition also stated that the facility provides electrical services to the Prophet’s Mosque.

It also comes amid a series of attacks and attempted strikes against Saudi cities and sites in recent weeks. On September 20, Saudi authorities announced that attempted attacks targeting Riyadh, Bish, Taif, Farasan and Yanbu had been thwarted. On September 24, the Coalition announced the interception and destruction of six ballistic missiles, including attempted strikes against Taif and Yanbu. Then, on September 26, it announced the interception of a ballistic missile launched toward Khamis Mushait.

The sequence of these attacks places the latest development within the context of continued escalation against targets inside the Kingdom, while the Coalition has emphasized a shift from interception alone toward continuing operational measures aimed at deterrence.
