The Kingdom condemns the targeting of two Emirati tankers in Hormuz, holds Tehran responsible for the consequences of continued attacks, and warns of threats to maritime security and global energy supplies

Saudi Arabia strongly condemned the targeting of two tankers belonging to the UAE’s Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, ADNOC, while they were transiting the Strait of Hormuz, reaffirming its rejection of repeated Iranian attacks against commercial ships and tankers.

In a statement issued Friday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the repeated attacks constitute a dangerous escalation and a direct threat to the security and safety of maritime navigation and global energy supplies, as well as a serious violation of international laws and norms.

The ministry said the attacks also constitute a blatant challenge to UN Security Council Resolution 2817, which affirmed the need to respect the rights of commercial vessels and freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, and condemned any actions or threats that could obstruct them.

The Kingdom held Iran fully responsible for the consequences of continuing these attacks and called on Tehran to immediately halt the violations and comply with the relevant international laws.

It stressed that regional security and the safety of international navigation are a shared responsibility, and that the continuation of such attacks cannot be accepted or tolerated.

Saudi Arabia also reaffirmed its full solidarity with the United Arab Emirates, its support for the country, and its backing for all measures taken to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and national assets.

ADNOC had announced that two of its tankers were attacked while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, confirming that the incident caused no injuries.

The UAE strongly condemned the attack and held Iran responsible for endangering commercial navigation and regional and international energy security.
