Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Sport has launched the “Community Sports in Public Parks” initiative across different regions of the Kingdom, in cooperation with the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, regional municipalities, and with the participation of several sports federations.

The initiative aims to promote the concept of “Sports for All” and support sustainable physical activity inside public parks, in addition to raising community awareness about the importance of sports and transforming it into part of daily lifestyle.

The initiative includes organizing various sports activities and events targeting different age groups, while providing an open and motivating environment that encourages practicing sports outside clubs and indoor facilities.

The activities began in Riyadh through Al Jabal Park in Dhahrat Laban district, and are expected to expand later to several parks and sports sites in:

Riyadh,
Buraidah,
Jeddah,
the Eastern Province,
Taif,
Abha,
and Jazan.

The initiative also includes multiple locations, among them:

Al Multaqa Park,
Murcia Park,
Al Hamra Park,
the Sports Center on King Salman Road in Buraidah,
in addition to Al Raddaf Park in Taif and Al Awajmah Park in Jazan.

BETH Analysis

The initiative is not merely seen as a seasonal sports activity,

but as a gradual transformation in the concept of life inside Saudi cities.

Sports here are no longer linked only to stadiums and clubs.

They are beginning to move into:

parks,
public spaces,
and people’s daily lives.

This type of initiative reflects a broader direction toward:

building more vibrant cities,
enhancing quality of life,
and linking public health with open community activity.

Transforming parks into spaces for movement and social sports interaction also gives sports a social and human dimension,

moving beyond the idea of “competitive sports” toward a sustainable community culture aligned with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
